CARAVAN FESTIVAL
CARAVAN FESTIVAL
Reviving Cultural
Communications in Toronto
In 1969 Toronto came alive with a week-long of festivities that painted the city with the colours and sounds of its rich cultural makeup. The festival known as Caravan, captured the attention of the world and would go on for 34 years, breaking down cultural barriers in the city, allowing cross-cultural communication to flourish, and embracing the self identity of the city’s residents.
Embodying the essence of unity, colour and diverse stories found at the original festival, the following thesis project is separated into two deliverables, the primary being a brand book, and the secondary, a workspace/merchandise booth which work together to showcase extensiveness and depth of the new brand. In addition to both deliverables a process book had also been crafted, which catalogs the research and creative exploration taken to produce the final creative outcome.

Exhibit/Informational Booth
The following booth was created to aid the overall Caravan Festival in 2 important ways. The first is to provide a centralized space where visitors can purchase merchandise, tickets/passports for the festival as well as gain more information about the festival. The second, is that the booth creates a workspace for the various volunteers and organizers of the festival, where meetings can be held with the numerous cultural organizations that are to be involved in the overall festival pavilions and performances.
Construction of this booth is made up of four large shipping containers stacked and arranged to create three areas which include a patio, workspace and merch floor. The entire booth footprint totals 5442 feet with dimensions of 34'x16'
