WHISKEY KISSES
Through endless discussions about music, sharing of album collections, and diving deep into the soul of Alex’s music, we came to the decision that the album was both his breakthrough while at the same time an homage to all of the artists that ultimately trained him through their song. Alex voiced that jazz has become a niche in the music industry with a rise of pop/hip hop and his role is to stop it from becoming a forgotten genre. It is through these discussions and additional research into classic jazz that many of the stylistic choices were made. The concept of popular but forgotten played a role in everything from typography, which was selected based on the once highly popularized but forgotten 1930—60s typefaces (Stymie & Eurostile) and grid layout, which had been derived from classic jazz LPs.
